“I asked some members of the Victorian Wader Study Group to describe in their own words the colours of the bills of the Eastern Curlews they were capturing and banding at Corner Inlet, Victoria in February 2014. Their responses reached towards the poetic: ‘darkest brown over dusky pink’; ‘charcoal over salmon’ and for the juvenile: ‘darkest brown over light slate.’ These word palettes were translated back into colours in this screenprint series and related watercolour series, Soft Part Colours: Eastern Curlew.” Barbara Campbell
